Samsung Galaxy M31 — a failure

It has been a couple of years since I bought my old Samsung S7. As with all things technological, it was time for an update.

Personally, I’m a big fan of Samsung phones and strongly dislike iPhones. When it comes to other bigger brands like Nokia and Huawei, I guess they’re not bad, but maybe out of force of habit, Samsung is my go-to brand.

I was more than satisfied with my S7, so most of my expectations came down to: the new phone has to be better than the old phone. I really didn’t think it was too much to ask for. Until I started searching for a new phone.

As it turns out, four years after the release of S7, I couldn’t find anything that could really compete with it. I grew more impatient with time until I found the M31 on sale, and here we are.

As one does, I went to check the specs. It turns out M31 is almost identical to A51 (which I considered buying before) but cheaper. So I thought, you know what, fuck it. It’s one of the best models I could find, it’s cheap, brand new, and it has a warranty. I’m getting it.

Now, why is it that I consider the M31 a failure in no particular order.

  • Autofocus. The M31 does not have autofocus. Why? I don’t know, but it’s a real pain in the ass when you have to manually focus all of your photos. S7 had got me used to…
